Celebrate The Stories Our Buildings Tell

Heritage Winnipeg presents the annual Doors Open Winnipeg event on May 27 and 28 this year. This free public event celebrates Winnipeg’s unique spaces, architecture, and history, showcasing more than 80 remarkable buildings and sites.

Doors Open Winnipeg presents the public with a unique opportunity to explore buildings and tours that may not be accessible the rest of the year. Since the first event in 2004, Doors Open Winnipeg has attracted more than a quarter of a million site visits, putting our incredible architecture, history and culture on display. The 2015 event was one of their most successful years yet, with over 27,000 site visits over the weekend. For a list of this year’s attractions, click here.

The influx of visitors and tourists over the weekend creates valuable economic spin-offs in the retail and hospitality sectors by encouraging people to visit parts of the city that they may not be familiar with, such as the historic Exchange District. Each year, hundreds of volunteers work hard to organize this exciting, city-wide community event.
